Burma Teak Veneer
Origin:
Burma and Thailand
Color and Characteristics:
The sapwood of teak is white to pale yellow, while the heartwood is dark golged-brown to dark golden-yellow to rich brown in color with darker chocolate-colored brown streaks. The species has a straight, occasionally wavy grain and is fairly coarse and uneven in texture. The wood itself can be greasy with shiny white pockets.
Application:
One of the oldest types of lumber. Teak is primarily used in shipbuilding and as high-quality furniture wood for interior finishing and series-produced furniture. It is extremely dense-grained and highly resistant to decay, warping, shrinkage and swelling. Teak has a high natural oil content which acts as a natural preservative, allowing furniture made from this wood to be left outdoors for decades. The continuous increasing ease of Teak building led to Teak becoming a enormous component of furniture.
